How this is worked out

Capacity: 40 devices/AP (standard (office, some video)) → 1 AP.
With 20% growth headroom: 4 APs total.
PoE: 4 PoE+ ports needed → a 8-port switch (incl. uplink/spares); ~80 W max PoE budget.

Before you commit

This is an estimate from area and headcount, not an RF/site survey — walls, materials, ceiling height, interference and channel planning change the real count.
High-density rooms (boardrooms, training rooms, lecture spaces) usually need extra APs beyond the area average.
Confirm the switch PoE budget covers every AP at max draw simultaneously, with spare ports for growth.
New cabling runs should be done by a registered cabler where the ACMA cabling rules apply.

Assumptions

Coverage-per-AP is a planning value for the chosen wall density and mount, not a measured RF figure.
Capacity-per-AP is a conservative sustained concurrent-client figure for the performance tier.
APs are modelled as WiFi 6, PoE+ (802.3at) class, ~20 W max draw each.
Growth headroom of 20% is applied before the final AP count.
PoE budget uses max class draw per AP, not average, so the switch covers all APs at once.
CALL/unknown supplier availability is excluded from browse links and never counted as in stock.
